Rol at Slawit wrote that he had a hard time picturing Noel Coward as 24 years old (his age when he wrote the play Hay Fever) – which got me thinking. Are there persons I can’t picture as being any other age than the one they were when I first became acquainted with them?
Oh yes!
Robertson Davies immediately came to mind. I had read a number of his books before I saw a picture of him. That in no way diminished my admiration for his writing, on the contrary – I think he was rather distinguished looking and probably a formidable personality. But can I imagine him as a pimply teenager with arms and legs that carry on after the nerves seemingly have reached their end station? Not a chance!
How about you? Who can’t you picture as being a child, a teenager, the age they were when they became famous….
To get this going, I’ll ask Jenn at Juggling Life and Tina in Ile-A-La Crosse tell us who they can only see as one particular age!
(I know, I know, this is a cheap way of putting together a post!)
