Still waiting to get my mobile hook-up to the Net. I am thoroughly fed up with waiting but can’t do anything but cool my heels, as temper tantrums adressed at the phone company never achieves anything!
Tomorrow we leave for two days of camping with our students – let’s see if I will have received the blessed SIM-card and modem by the time we return on Friday.
…and still waiting to get my new Internet hookup! Telia used to have monopoly on all telephone communication in Sweden before and could take their sweet old time with everything… They no longer have the same powerful position in all of the country – but where they DO, they certainly use it to the fullest!
My apartment is shaping up pretty good, I’ve taken some pretty neat pictures from around town and I’m slowly getting used to my new life. Too soon to give any kind of evaluation of it all, but have a look at my banner and my URL. They were both picked with a bit of a thought…
I have transeferred most of my belongings to the apartment in town. It’s amazing how much stuff you accumulate over 10 years – and it’s nigh on impossible to sort out what to keep and what to ditch when you have to pack it all up. Good thing I have a good-sized storage not too far from the apartment!
Only kidding.
I do believe a sense of humour is essential when life throws curve balls at you! This was a shot I took yesterday – right before I heard the cranes hollering – and it seemed kind of fitting right now.
Yes – I have an apartment in town – a 1 bedroom with a fair-sized livingroom and kitchen. The livingroom is facing a wooded area with lots of trails for walking and winter-time skiing. Once I get the place in order, I’ll invite you all on a tour of the manse…
After a day with intermittent rain, this was the view over the creek at the southern end of the lake.
While I was there taking pictures, I also heard some cranes screeching over to the right side of the creek. Unfortunately sandals wasn’t the right footwear for trying to take pictures of them.
This was around 9 PM the other night. I was talking to my sister on the cell phone when I realised I had to take a picture of the bell tower before I would loose all light.
Have returned to the place I’ve called home for the last 10 years and am feeling just a tad better about things. I’m sure this will not be the case all of the time during the next few weeks/months – but for now I am at least not crying over the keypad.
Last night I was out playing around with the camera a bit and this is one of the shots I took.
In other news: I’ve visited a couple of different second-hand places to case out what’s available in way of furniture and the like. It seems to me that I’ll be able to furnish a 1 bedroom apartment for peanuts and it still won’t look like it’s all from Sally Anne. Actually, the biggest expense will be the 500 km return trip it’ll take to get the stuff from the coast and back home.
… but quite a few left to go.
My check-up today was the best news I’ve had in recent times. The X-Rays looked really good, no shadows or anything that shouldn’t be there. My spirometer test impressed the doctor – my results were actually better than what can be expected with 20% less lung tissue to start with. He liked my slightly rounder bod’
(No, no – he checked my chart and saw that I’ve gained 5+ kgs. Get your mind out of the gutter!)
and urged me to continue exercising the way I have. I intend to – even if it’s going to be on the trails around town!
I also decided to visit some relatives down along the coast, so I may be posting only sporadically the next few days. MIght as well seize the opportunity to do that, since I really am in no hurry to return home just now.

Maybe it’s the band width we have here that is making things difficult, but uploading these pictures took forever. Also, I need to play around with the placement of pictures in the post – not to mention with the camera while shooting pictures….
BTW – how does one disable comment approval on WordPress? I know the answer can be found somewhere in the FAQ:s – but asking this way is faster.
Off to visit Dad and Barb, tomorrow I continue on to The Big Regional Hospital for X-rays and a visit with the oncologist.
