On my way around between different meetings today, I just had to stop to take this picture. The buildings you can see just above the clouds on the left side…
… are the ones I photographed about a month ago – after getting up there on a treacherous dirt road. The view is spectacular, but I wouldn’t want to brave that road in the winter!
Tonight I spent almost 2 hours getting a few things straightened out for one of “my” teenagers. While waiting for the manager of the campus, I had supper with some of the staff and a few of the teenagers. I am totally awed by how fast they pick up the language! There are absolutely no similarities between their own languages and Swedish, we don’t share the same alphabet, we produce sounds in different ways and some of them haven’t spent a day in school. Yet – after one day of lessons they count to 10 and recite half of the alphabet in a new language – and are elated!
What a change from some of my day-time students who couldn’t give a tinkers d*mn about school.
