Middle of November and here it’s raining! Not good – the roads are treacherous and the crews sanding streets and roads are running constantly.
There is only about 10-15 cm of snow – and now it has a crust of ice. This could turn into a small disaster for the reindeer herders as the animals won’t be able to dig through the ice to get bat their food. This happens quite often – but I can’t recall a year when we’ve had a rainfall like this in November.
It doesn’t sound like a good combination. One of the reasons I’ll probably stay in San Diego is never to have to drive on icy roads–the thought scares the bejesus out of me.

The weather just seems to be mixed up all over this year. We had such a rain-filled summer that it barely seemed to BE summer, then a heavy snow early in October, and then, the past few days, it’s been warm and sunny, when it should be getting colder. Well, anyway, stay in, stay warm, dry, safe. Hope it ends or is safer to drive tomorrow.

Strange weather world wide at times these days.We are having a slow start to summer.
I like the look of your new camera. My ‘other half’ is looking to buy a new camera and has been researching one similar.
We are newly back from a sojourn in the Cook Islands, a group of tropical islands in the South Pacific. Unfortunately we both caught rather a nasty tropical bug so the island paradise was a little less than appealing for a few days! Hence the lack of comments of late.

It is so strange how different life is in other parts of the world – snow and then ice on top, reindeer. Here it has rained a lot too but it is still mild.
I thought of you yesterday actually when I read in the paper that reindeer imported over here for Christmas features tend to die. So sad. Why can’t people just use model ones?

I was in Ottawa during the “Great Ice Storm of ‘98″. It was VERY hard on the ungulate populations because the crusty layer made it hard to graze. When more snow fell and somewhat softened the ice layer, it was hard on any animal (human included) trying to walk because they’d break through the crusty layer and bang their shins on it. It made it very hard to move around.

This weather we’re having is really scary. Just watched the weather report and we’re in for anoher 3 days of the same. During the latter part of November, for Goodness sake!

I love a good snow, but ice is something I can do without! (Unless it is in a margarita!!)
