I noticed these tools at the museum the other day…
When the nurse at the dental clinic called today to remind me of my annual check-up, I could only sigh from relief that there has been some definite improvements made in the field of dentistry over the past century…

I feel the same way at medical museums.

Yikes! Thank goodness for medical advances.

True – but if your first encounter with a dentist was like mine, you might feel differently.
She was a huge woman who spoke Swedish with a German accent and when I started crying at the sight of her, she threatened to throw me out the window… I was 5 at the time and on the third floor of a building for the very first time in my life. For years, I almost fainted just walking by the dental clinic… Nowadays I go there quite willingly – but I can still think of a kazillion other things I’d rather do.

I was cringing at my last dental exam, but then thought, why? Of all of our regular medical exams–the eye exam, the clam jam, etc–the dental is the most tolerable! At least there’s no poking!
