This evening shortly before 7PM , Loki was again assaulted by the sounds of a rather large pyrotechnic device being shot off. He turned around in his step and just wanted to get inside again. About an hour later, there was another one that went off and now he moved into his cage where he’s been sleeping for the last hour.
Do I dare take him for a walk now? Are we to restrict ourselves to walking during hours (I assume) when these pyrotechnically interested young men are still asleep (as in from about 6 AM until shortly after dusk) or do I have to move from town during a couple of weeks after New Years? Why isn’t crap like this forbidden in the hands of every Joe and Tom ? Why isn’t there a need for a pyrotechnic license before you are allowed to set them off – and then only at a set time at a certain date? There are laws in Sweden prohibiting silly things – but not this! Why is that?
Still no news from the vet. The closest one was on an emergency today, so tomorrow I’ll call the clinics down by the coast.
Update.
We went for a quiet walk after 10PM and Loki was able to keep his tail over his back most of the time. Now he’s sleeping in the hallway, but I know I’ll need to put him in his cage overnight so he’ll feel safe.!
I. Hate. This.
Loki shouldn’t have to suffer from the idiotic things people do because they don’t think past the nose in their faces, in the meantime I’m thinking what options I have to consider.

It happens the same way here, too. 4th of July is the worst, obviously, but at least then I expect 5 quivering, shaking, terrified dogs. The other times are the worst – the nights when random people just decide to go shoot them off in their back yards here in town for no reason other than they think it’s fun, and don’t care what it does to people’s dogs. I, too, HATE it. Hate what it does to my dogs who simply have no understanding of what it is, other than a terrifying experience. Poor sweet Loki.
I hope you can get him in to a vet soon, though I worry they won’t be able to figure it out. Seizures are hard to diagnose and treat when they are infrequent and random. Poor baby. Hope things start looking up for both of you SOON.
