Again, I am saved by fellow bloggers, when my inspiration runneth low… Jenn, Karen, Susan, Heidi and others brighten our lives with pictures from days gone by. Here’s one I found as I dove into my stack of albums.
That’s me in a plaid dress between my best friends Vanja and Gerd. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the names of any of the other children since I went to this school only during Grade 1 and a few months in Grade 2. Yes, that’s worth a blogpost of its’ own.
Notice the boy on the top left – I think he had TRIED to cut his own hair… I know I had done exactly that, thus my extremely short bangs after Mom had tried to salvage what was left after my self-styling efforts. A few were gap-toothed, others had two bunny-like teeth up front, I had banged my knee (probably running, not looking where I was going) – but were we ever a happy lot!
The teacher was another story. In retrospect I can understand that having another batch of boisterous firstgraders was tiring for someone a year or two away from her pension. My only memory of her is her shortsleeved cardigans and how she seldom smiled at anything.

Well, the hairdo is about the same… just add a bunch of wrinkles & that’s me allright!

Oh, I’m so pleased that you joined in this week!
I think we all made attempts at cutting our own hair in childhood.
Proud to say that I guessed correctly who you were in the photo before scrolling down to find out.
