I’ve had almost exactly 2 months of a relatively doghair-free house…
Today I came home to a dog who is shedding like there is no tomorrow. It’s -18C outside, for Pete’s sake – and we still have at least another three months of winter ahead of us!

Whale skin indeed!
Cleo begs my dh every morning for a rough patting session. No joke! He pats her roughly on her side for several minutes at a time, she walks off for a few minutes and returns for more. It sounds like he is hitting her but she LOVES it!

Karen – Dogs that have at least a bit of “Northern Dog” in them usually keep their winter coat for the entire winter. Apparently Loki wasn’t there when they gave out this information, so he’s shedding A LOT! This becomes a bit of a problem, since he’s no friend of the vacuum and I need to bring it out every day once he starts shedding like this.
As for Cleopatra and DH – I bet you he’ll still pet her when she deigns to acknowledge his presence every now and then… Besides – whatever else should a feline be covered in??? Whale skin! ;-D

Don’t dogs shed all the time? This is a useful bit of knowledge.
I mean, my cat sheds a lot more in hot weather, of course, but she sheds year ’round… which is why my husband says she is a worthless creature completely covered in cat hair
